How could I be so stupid?

Well, there won't be any knitting in this house for a few days. Not only won't there be any knitting going on, there won't be much of anything going on that requires the use of my left hand. I badly burned my first three fingers on that hand.

I was heating up a bowl of baked potato soup (my favorite) for lunch in the microwave. When I took it out and pulled back the ling wrap, the steam burned me. I wouldn't want to type the words that came out of mouth. That happened at 11 am....here it is 4:30 and my fingers are still in a glass of cold water. The pain is so bad! I have never had a burn like this before...it has turned white and I think there is a blister coming. The only relief from the pain is when it's in the water......falling asleep tonight is gonna be fun huh?

Not only do I do this to myself today, but my children are sick. Katie has a fever...and I am sure tomorrow it will be a cold, and Ben has an ear infection. What I wouldn't give to go back to lunch time and not burn my fingers....then I could cuddle my poor sick babies with 2 hands!

ouch! see if you can get some aloe vera with lidocaine in it. i have used it in the same situation and it really helps take the edge off the pain.

Oh DEAR...extra prayers for the burned fingers and the kiddos...I've used Rescue Remedy cream and LOVED it, but please do see a doctor if it gets worse...steam burns can be really severe!

Oh no Jennifer! I hope you'll feel better. Do try the aloe vera. I've burned a finger that same way and I know how you feel...

On another note, love your Kiri! It's on my loooonnng list of things to knit.

Hi, I had a steam burn last summer, the best thing is to put some triple antibiotic on it and keep it covered! yes, it'll hurt like a bitch for about 2 days, but it will go away... I am soooo sorry to hear about your fingers! OUCH! Well, that and sick kids... double ouch.

Ouch! Sorry to hear about your fingers, I hope they heal very soon. But, all is not lost. If you can't knit for a while, you have more time to read...about knitting...yes? And being one-handed should not stop you from yarn shopping on the internet. :-)

Burning your fingers sucks, no doubt. That just means you need to treat yourself to some new yarn when they are healed. Right?

Hope you are back to knitting soon :)

Nice shawl by Mom. That one is on my list of things to knit. Will have to do that soon.

Jennifer, I hope you are feeling better by now! Burns are the worst for intense pain per sq inch. At least we are finally starting to get some spring weather back again. I got to go to a great yarn shop in Tahoe City on Sunday -Three Dog Knits. If you are ever that way, check it out.
